XBOX Live Help!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE :)

Hi All,

Bit of a complicated story coming up but i'll try and make it brief. Ok I've been having trouble signing into my xbox live account on the 360. Basically my xbox plays fine on live (just renewed my gold membership) with games, sky player etc. However, just recently I changed broadband provider and as a result my e-mail address has changed too. So thinking all I need to do is just change the registered address from old to new and thats it. Simple.

Now, this is where the complications start. Every password combination i've tried on my 360 does not work. I couldn't understand this because I can log into the MS live website with the same details. Weird thing is though, there is no gammer tag associated with my e-mail address (funny that as I can play online fine). So after a bit of poking around I find out that actually the e-mail address associated with my live account is incorrect. Looks like a typo somehow.

Basically the email should be: [email protected] but it is actually [email protected]-com

Note the hyphen instead of the full stop. This is the address that is displayed on my 360. Ok, so i've gone back to the MS website to try and figure out the password but then it tells me it is invalid and there is a syntax error if I put the hyphen in. Since no passwords work (because the address never existed nor does exist now) how the heck can I change over to my current address?

I get the feeling i'm going to have to bin the account which will suck big time (loose points/friends etc). After an hour or so of trawling the net I'm kinda giving up hope.

So I put it to you for one last attempt :S is there anything I can do?

I don't know if you have already, but is it worth giving MS a call? I'm not sure how helpful they are though. :confused:

No I haven't actually tried this yet. At least if you guys can't help then I have one more avenue before ditching everything. Worst thing though is I just paid for another year

So you cannot login to your account using the plus-com address at http://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=...Z2FwwwZ2ExboxZ2EcomZ2FenZ2DGBZ2FdefaultZ2Ehtm then?

If you can get in there, you can change your email address, but if you can't, then can you not do it via your xbox, cos you say you can play on live in your xbox?

If none of that works, then yeah, email/phone MS.

Nah it won't let me log in on the website as the e-mail address does not exist on their system (typo on the 360). Annoyingly though it seems to have registered the address fine with no verification.

Just spent nearly an hour talking to Xbox live on the phone, first in the USA and then the UK once I found out there was a UK number.

Incidentally the American spoke better English than the English *cough* foreign call centre UK office. Long story short they can't help because I can't provide them with the correct security info. They are asking me what was my first car (which was a Peugeot 106) and when I tell them it fails. So not really sure why thats going on. Looks like it all goes in the bin if my xbox dies then?
