xbox live help

hi,

Just got xbox live today, hooked it up to the router and tested the connection everything was successful.
Then tried to connect to it again and it told me to try and retrieve my gamertag so we went through this process and then it said connecting to xbox live please do not remove your storage device.

This is where it brings a error up saying cannot connect to xbox live make sure the storage device is connected.
We havent removed the storage device and tested the connections again and they were still successful

Any ideas on whats wrong please guys.

Its prob xbox live playing up keep trying its been funny since christmas.

yeah i think it might be xbox live or the gold membership as i tried to make another account and added the free silver membership and it worked fine.
