xbox live is this a joke

Though im liking your examples there are other subscriptions which counter it, e.g Magazines can be shared, Sky, Internet etc.. are shared amound households/appliances

But you are getting 1 magazine, if you want to watch 2 different Sky channels you pay more for the privilege and so on.
The user profile is PER USER. If they want to SHARE 1 Profile as per 1 magazine or watch 1 channel then there is no problem with it.

I know i was just countering Meeko's arguements i could by a meal for one and still share it etc..

I still "again" agree, that it should be paid seperate for each profile though

They should at least let you set up for the regular rrp of £40 and then at least add a sub account for £5 each or something. Even if that sub is tied to the main one, and only one can be online at a time etc.
Like some ISP's used to do the e-mail and stuff, get 1 for the regular cost, but each additional address is a nominal cost.
And like cheets said, similar to sky. Pay your £50 a month for your main box, but then you only pay a tenner for each additional box.

Aye but in fairness £35-£40 whatever it is, not exactly a huge amount for 12months!

But if you have 2 kids its an extra 80 quid a year onto a console, not even taking daddies into the equation ;) Thats pushing the price over £350 on a premium

All it is is another excuse to buy a PS3 and for the PS3 price to seem that little bit smaller.

Except for the PS3 online system is no-where near as good as the XBL, even as a PS3 enthusiast you cannot deny that.

Yeap xbox live has extra bells and whistles. Butttttttttt i can honestly say, i don't use them. All i really like to do is play multiplayer, which the PSN does perfectly well. Also if rumours are to be believed there is a hugeeee update coming thursday.
The one thing i like about xbox live is the friends list on the internet, that is the only thing i would honestly miss.

Out of interest, how do you allow a guest account to play online split screen with a gold account? Does it depend on the game? I've not got a 360 myself, but my neighbours do, and we were trying to get it working for GoW last night, but couldn't. We just used the free month you get with any hotmail addy, but that'll run out after not long, and it seems pointless us all buying gold accounts just to play the odd game with him.

Depends on the game afaik it comes up on a login screen and Controller 2 logs in as a Guest.

**cough** Sony let you have multiple ones for free :p

Curious how this works if your setting up someone to avoid them, lets face it their are a lot of annoying people online. Can you do this and give good bad feedback with PS3?

Given this option you mention of multiple identities suerly then all someone has to do is create a new gamertag or whatever Sony call it and keep pestering you, unless you end up changing your own identity which would be a little annoying then having to update all your friends etc, just curious to how its being tackled in the Sony camp.

Ive met households with brothers online like names simular too "Sausage N Chips" or "Beans Or Peas" etc using one account in a rather amusing way...

I think the chances of someone trying to stalk you in such a manner would be slim. But i do see your point.
But at the same time, some folk like to play with different names, maybe you want a quiet night and want to play without being bugged.

If being bugged cant you Err set your status to offline or busy?

Seriously does PS3 online offer any of the common features user account holders on live have and which, i know you operate with both.

well i play and my brother plays still it is microsoft after all
£35 for Gold on one account has always been the deal, I see no reason why you should get 2. It's Microsoft after all? In which way, MS have done nothing wrong except offer a great service and console at an affordable rate, bring PC's to the forefront, bring the Internet to the masses and created an operating system so accessible it's used by billions.

So explain your comment please.

Do you honestly expect Microsoft to give you two "Live" profiles for £35 ?
That would equate to £17.50 per profile per year, pretty cheap by anyone's standards.
It 'aint gonna happen !!

Tell your brother to stick his hand in his pocket and pay, the stingy git !!
