Xbox live keeps disconnecting...

Finally got round to trying my 360 online. After a lot of messing about I managed to get on but my free 2 months to live would not work, said it was invalid :rolleyes:

ended up just connecting it straight to my cable modem with an rj45 in the end and going for silver. Got 1 month free gold. Been playing PGR3 but it just constantly disconnects saying user has changed :confused:

I thought I was being kicked at first but I have only managed to finish about 3 races.

Anyone any idea whats going on?

This is just my xbox 360 wired straight to my NTL modem on 4mb, no other hardware involved.

Dont you need Gold to play online?

Perhaps live was being dicky at that time, or NTL.

I'm on NTL also and have loads of problems playing on Live, get loads of disconnects during games and when you get back to the dashboard the account seems to be signed in but signed in offline.

Mines been doing it occasionally since the last downtime/update. Maybe they broke something. I'm on BY.

Well, my NTL service has been a bit slow the past few days.

But here is a bit of info, if you have an OLD modem, (especially if any of you are on 10MB) that could be a problem as well. I used to have a TJ210 (a black modem) and live crashed literally every 5 - 15 minutes. A new modem fixed that and most of my other NTL problems.

Problem is though, convincing them you need a new modem, especially for those of you only on a 2 or 4MB service.

I am not saying that is the cause of all your problems though. If possible try your 360's on a friends house in the same area also with NTL. My next door neighbours used to work perfectly with his newer modem, so I knew that was the route of my problems. I now have the NTL home 250 (I think thats the one anyway) and no problems with live or the internet in general since.

My modem says 250 on the bottom and I've never had any problems with it before. Maybe the cable is dodgy?

Anyone know what the score is with the 2 free months of Gold membership? I think I got it with my PGR2 ages ago, maybe even with my original xbox, not sure. Should these still work?
