Hi guys, having some major problems with live and need your help :)

Basically the games on live keep skipping, so Im walking along then the next minute im behind a door, and things like that.

This happens in Rainbow 6 vegas, COD4 (connection errors) and frontlines.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to solve it please, its driving me nuts!

lol, nah mate, no downloading is going on when Im on live, so its not that...

Did an xbox live connection thing, and everything is a-ok with it...

Doing me heading! :D

The only time i have a problem with lag is when i join a lobby which is hosted by americans who must have a crap IP.
It never seems to happen when joining friends in the uk.

Wireless signal strength reliable?

try doing a trace route to somewhere like bbc (start>run>cmd>tracert www.bbc.co.uk) and see if there is a large ping in there somewhere?

behind a router make sure port 3074 is open (should be...)

ok, that means nothing to me what it says in tracert thing...

but this is what it came up with that looked odd - 1 62ms 99ms 99ms api.home , and then the ip (which i dunno if i should post? lol) which i type in my web browser to connect to the bt home hub.

All the rest of the pings are 28-32ms.

How would I make sure the port 3074 is open then mate? And Im using a bt home hub :)

And I am a noob when it comes to this stuff, so major thanks to those that are helping.

Its your wireless connection I could almost 99% guarentee it. Try connecting direct (wired) to the router just to make sure.

BT Home Hub - there a lot of fun :D

I assume then that your also on BT's broadband service?

Also posting the data in the tracert won't hurt too much either but the numbers sound ok to me.

Oh great! :(

lol, yea Im with bt broadband....is that bad?

Internet runs fine through the pc, connected by ethernet, runs fine on laptops.

Not fine on 360.

Come on guys, were almost there, CAN YOU FEEL IT? :D

Wait a minute - IDEA!!

If your using a wireless connection does it have some form of security on it? WEP or WPA would be most likely. If not then someone may be browsing the web/downloading through your wireless connection :o

BT aren't regarded as the best of suppliers.

Whats the sognal strength like on the xbox dashboard? mine was always on 1/4 and dropped coneection like crazy :(

can't remember exactly as I've not played with a home hub for a while....

In theory the ip address(s) 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 will be the Home Hub/Router

Typing those into a browser should connect you to the device and allow you to check things out but I cannot remember the home hub stuff

Right, I rang bt and they have done all they can on their end.

They said that the home hub has all ports on it open anyway?

Still lagging on COD4 every 2 seconds, but only noticed it once on R6:V...

Is COD4 really laggy at the mo?
