xbox live membership isn't valid...

This happens every time I turn off my console, which means I have to recover my gamertag. It's only recently started happening.

- I've not used my account on another console
- The account was originally created on a different xbox but I've since used a data transfer kit and moved across to a newer style xbox. (It's been fine for over 6 months)

Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening all the time?

whats the error you get mate? does it just say live membership is not valid? also was this a preowned or new machine?

Pre-owned and yes it just says that (I've owned the machine for pushing over a year though).

hmmm maybe back up your saves and format the HD? are you storing your GT on a pen drive?

It would suggest somebody has got your account details and is playing with your account on another Xbox!

Change your passwords right away! (Check if you've had any new achievements recently that you didn't/wouldn't have unlocked).
