Basically me and my brother have seperate xbox's and like to play halo together but obviously in different rooms.
now the problem is halo is unbearably laggy at the best of times but worse when nat is moderate or strict. we cant seem to both have an open NAT at the same time.
Is this as we both are wired to the same router and it cant send 2 things through the same ports??
As when i manually assign ip's and port forward for both of us, it gives me open and him strict. When i turn UPnP on and set both to auto it gives him open and me moderate.

So do i need a switch for one of the xbox's or am i being stupid and is there a normal way around this problem??

I have two wireless 360's, I don't think it's possible to have two open NAT 360's. The best I can get is one Open, the other Moderate, it never causes us any issues though.

I asked the same question a while ago..

yeh im thinking our internet isnt good in general, want to move to o2 asap, hopefully that means it doesnt matter that one is moderate.

cheers

I meant to ask a related question a few days ago.

Last weekend my eldest lad wanted to get his newish xbox onto the internet for online gameplay.

I manually configured his xbox to suit the configuration of our home network and it passed most of the tests OK.

In typical microsoft fashion it moaned about the NAT - something about strict & moderate as I recall - and wanted to suggest a list of compatible products so I could go out and buy replacement kit , alter my network, reconfigure every device on it and generally stick my arse up in the air for microsoft to use/abuse as they see fit.

However,

The xbox seems to work. Online games and downloads seem to be ok. External connectivity is through a smoothwall NAT router. I'm not going to rebuild my network for an Xbox - apart from putting a de-militiarised zone on the smoothwall box maybe for the xbox to use.

Can someone just give me a little insight into what the microsoft xbox is actally having issues with, mention fixes & workarounds and generally add helpful comments.

Thx.
