Dear freshage:

Thank you for being a valued member of Xbox LIVE Gold. We hope you are enjoying the many exciting and exclusive features that are included in your membership. We wanted to let you know about an upcoming price increase for your 1-month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription and to provide you information on options for renewing your subscription.

Over the past 7 years, Xbox LIVE has evolved from an online gaming platform to an all-in-one gaming and entertainment service. As an Xbox LIVE Gold member, you can not only play blockbuster games such as Halo: Reach with your friends online, you can also watch live and on demand TV from Sky* and stream music from Last.fm to your TV. You can even connect with friends near and far on Facebook® and Twitter™. Plus, you also enjoy exclusive discounts and early access to game demos. And, coming soon, Video Kinect will allow you to chat with family and friends on the big screen, right from the comfort of your living room.**

On 1 November 2010 we will be increasing the price of 1-month Gold membership from £4.99 to £5.99. Please note that there is NO increase in the price of 3-month and 12-month Gold membership.

If you are currently on an automatic monthly recurring membership and the renewal date is on or after 1 November 2010, your subscription will automatically renew at the new price, charged to the credit card we currently have on file for your account.

Learn more about the price change and your subscription renewal options.

As always, you can cancel your membership before the renewal date by calling 0800 587 1103, although we certainly would not want you to miss out on all the great new features and games coming this November.

We hope that you will continue to enjoy all the great gaming, entertainment, and social experiences that Xbox LIVE has to bring today - and in the future.

Sincerely,

The Xbox LIVE Team

the amount isn't the point. They should be scrapping the charging for online not putting it up!!

Im starting to get sick of MS and all the extras they charge for, in fact im tempted to sell up for a ps3 - at least its free to play

If you pay in to a service like this it gives them funds to improve and expand. Look how it has developed since the 360 came out originally. Compare that to PSN.

What would you rather have?

Anyone got any stats on how many Live subscribers there are in the world? Times that by say £30 a year times what 3-4 years?

Not noticed that level of development on Live, let's not kid ourselves.

Seriously? The difference in development and features has not been worth anywhere near the total amount MS have made through subscriptions.

still, he has a point, xbox live is so vastly superior to PSN. still im with you, would love to see subscription charges binned entirely or at least slashed, rather than raised. :)

I'd argue only slightly superior now, it used to be vastly superior but over time the PSN has seen more improvements than Live has, bringing the PSN closer to it.

Yes you could argue that it's easier to improve the PSN because it lacked features, but still it's a point.

haven't been on PSN in ages so not really upto date, the last time i was on though it wasn't great. :)

I let mine run out last month, I am waiting for Fifa 11 and Medal of honour to play online, only game I played online was Fifa 10 for the passed six months.

PSN is good enough that it's really difficult to justify paying for Live, let alone this price increase.

What do I get for my £30 that justifys the price over psn? Cross game chat? That's about it! I've used both and can't notice any difference for playing games online. For £30 we should be getting dedicated servers.
