Hi all been trying to do this for a while but couldn't get it to work in xp.

I have my pc upstairs connected to a d-link router downstairs via a wireless card, and my x360 is connected to my pc via a crossover cable to connect to xbox live through my pc.

I have done this in vista no problem everything works however in xp it just says "ics cannot be enabled, lan connection has been set to obtain ip address automatically" or something along those lines.

I tried to use the xp home network configurator but it just said setup could not complete. Also tried to manually configure ip address for the lan card but it still won't let me enable ics.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong so thanks for your help.

I've done this before, might not be brilliantly secure but hey

I just right clicked on my wireless dongle and chose "share this connection" or something along those lines, seemed to work once I'd put the crossover cable in

Thats a very vague description, if you don't get it working I'll go have a look

Yeah that's what I did, checked the box under the advance tab of my wireless card that says share this connection but it just came up with the error message above.

Can someone remind me of that gaming network that lets you multiplay across the internet for free on a 360

I used to use it for gt4 on the ps2 but cant remember it now

bridge the connections!

select them both then right click and bridge them should work ;)

Hold on maybe I wasn't very detailed in my description lol.

1. Go to network connections in control panel, you should see your wireless card and your LAN connection in there.

2. select both using ctrl, then right click and select bridge connections.

3. Profit!

Tried that too but the wireless card lost connection to the Internet as soon as I bridged it with LAN :(

hmmm if it works on vista then there's no reason why it won't work on xp too. There must be something I'm missing here.

Did you have the xbox on at the time ?

I had the problem of it dropping the connection then it randomly worked :S
