Hey guys,

Just hoping that someone on here can help us with a little problem we have.

My 15yr old Brother is addicted to Xbox Live, its all he ever does. So I'm wondering if there is anyway of changing the settings on the router so he can only play on it up until a certain time?

He has his GCSE's coming up so we don't want him playing on it 24-7.

Also, he is connected through a wire, not wireless.

Thanks.

Edit: The thread title is supposed to say ''Xbox Live Time''

As far as im aware yu cant via the router but im pretty sure ms added some sort of family settings on the 360 it self so you could set a time limit on that itself

Yeah we've had a look on the Xbox and you can select how many hours a day he can play on it, but we'd prefer to block it at a certain time so it goes off at that time regardless. So if he doesnt go on it until say...6pm, then it will still go off at 22.30. If you know what I mean?

Take the 360 off him?

We've tried that but there's only me and my mam and we both work the same shift, including night shift which starts at 7pm, we don't mind him playing on it until around 22.30. We've tried telling him to come off but it doesn't work so I'm just wondering if there's any way of setting a time on it. If not, then we'll just have to take it off him before we go to work and hide it somewhere

buy a memory card
copy his gamertag on to memory card
change password on live account to stop him recoving the gamertag himself
remove memory card when you don't want him online

worked for my sister when she had this problem with her eldest at GCSE time

Does he have wireless controllers and/or play and charge kit? Just take it off him when you don't want him to play, keep saying "It's for your own good!" over and over, he'll understand in 5 years or so :)

Block ports 53, 88 and 3074 on both TCP/UDP between the hours you like on the 360's IP. You will need to manually assign an IP address to it first mind you.

How do we assign an IP address to the Xbox?

Its a bit tricky coz my partner also uses his Xbox from time to time aswell, so would doing this also block his or not?

We've seen something on the router under ''IP address filtering'' where you can enter an IP address and what times you want it to take effect, I'm assuming this is where we need to be...

Thanks :)

portforward.com

that'll let you select your router and talk you through assigning a static IP address then just block the ports on that ip address and it'll not affect your partners box.
