Hey all,

Maybe this should be in the FAQ thread but no one reads stickies (ironically I did and couldn't find anything on this).

Purchased an Xbox 360 Premium recently and am wanting to go online with things to see how it fairs. I have went through the registration process (picked a name, filled in number, email etc) and have got to the payment screen.

Now I didn't check before buying but I thought there was a one gold month free trial with the premium pack? The only options I have are Silver (£0.00) and the next one is Gold for one month (£4.99).

I have had a quick look through the documentation and can't find any sort of code or anything. Have they stopped offering the one free month or do I have to go silver first and then 'upgrade' - I'm a bit clueless so don't want to dive into anything.

Cheers for any help.

I'm being painfully introduced to Call of Duty 3 at the moment. :D

Enjoying it though. Microsoft may yet get that extra dosh out of me.

I was someone who preferred Call of Duty 2 over the first one. I just thought it was much more clean cut and had a nicer interface. Then again I have sort of had my time with CoD2 and I always feel the game was never 'dirty' enough - it was like war, but in a nicely broken down town.

I know there's a big following of the first one still and I did enjoy it when it first came out.

I'm really surprised at how nice the live stuff is all setup. They've taken some time with it.

Just wondering, does your one month trial of gold start when your register for silver, or can you choose when its start?

Pretty much.

When you register and fill in all your details you are brought to a payment screen which has the following options:

Silver Membership - £0.00
1 Month Gold Membership - £4.99
3 Month Gold Membership - £14.99
12 Month Gold Membership - £39.99

You then choose Silver Membership. It says: 'Are you sure you want a silver Membership?' and lists many of the features of gold in propaganda style.

Your options are then: 'Stay with Silver' or 'Choose Another'.

I thought 'Choose Another' would bring me to the option of the free trial - but it brings you back to the ordinary payment screen, so you choose 'Stay with Silver' and THEN it amazingly says 'You are eligible for a free one months trial gold membership' and click on that to activate it.

God knows how many people Microsoft have hooked into paying straight away, by not making that free trial as obvious as it should be.

To answer your question - I think gold pretty much starts as soon as you sign up (I don't think you can bypass the 'eligible for' screen but I could be wrong).

Either way, don't plug it in until you know you'll be getting the best use out of it.
