Moved to a new house on Saturday and I turned on my 360 for the first time today and tried to get on live. Didn't work, so I reset the router and voila it worked. The network cable I was using however was a little dodgy as its missing the clip so it popped out of the xbox. I changed this cable over to another standard patch cable and now I cant seem to get on.

When i do the test connection on my xbox it comes up
network adapter: wired
ip address: confirmed
dns: confirmed
mtu: comfirmed (however this sometimes fails)
icmp: comfirmed (again this sometimes fails and takes a while)
Xbox Live: failed every time.
NAT: blank

I've got an XBL silver account. The router is a Belkin High Speed Mode Wireless G Router F5D7231-4 The firmware is up to date according to the auto update in the software. Internet is Virginmedia 6mb and the internet is fine on my PC.

Any ideas to try? Is the router one that will not work with XBL? If so I still have the one form the old house, would just like to get set up with this one cos it's already set up.

Cheers

Cut your router out and see if theres a problem, then you can blame your ISP lol.. if it works, its a problem somewhere on the router, check that xbl is allowed on the Ports etc and try a different cable..

Nah I am not banned. I've tried the DMZ on the Xbox however this has not resolved the problem and now its saying MTU failed again. I can't see a way to change this on my router without changing the connection type to PPPoE which isn't what I need as I'm on Viginmedia with an external cable modem. Will try going straight from modem to xbox in a minute.

Going straight from modem to xbox also didnt work not sure if i needed to change the settings on the xbox tho. I think I'm just going to try the old router and see if that one works. If it does then it's definately an ISP problem however I had 10mb VirginMedia at the old house and never had a problem. Very random tho.
