Xbox live update issues

Have purchased a 2nd hand xbox, it connects to the internet fine but will not connect to live.
An update is needed but it won't download it.

I have put the update onto USB and that also doesn't resolve the issue, it actually puts it into a boot loop which is rather annoying.

Couple of error codes get thrown, this is the most recent ones:

3f4b-0000-3000-0903-8007-0468
3f4b-0000-3080-050c-8007-0468

Google and xbox support have nothing for these code at all it seems.

Anyone got any idea what is going wrong?
 
New error:

3f4b-0000-3080-0504-d000-0185

this one suggests the HDD isn't present, even though I know it is and can see it in settings. Will follow the steps on this one a moment.
 
Ok update via usb results in a boot loop

update from live is now actually downloading, but then giving the error above which removing and readding the hdd does nothing :(
 
Yeah, reseated and no change. a reboot sorted the red light.

Bought it from MM on here. The seller is aware i'm having a few issues but I'm happy to try and resolve where I can :)

If that doesn't work then I'll speak to the seller about returning. Nightmare for both of us lol
 
Nope, that update does nothing at all. plug usb in, turn on xbox..... loads to profile screen. It's like the update isn't even there.

put newest update on usb, insert and turn on - tries to install update.

Then it red buttoned on me with code E68 :(
