I can download all aracade games fine, and I managed to download one of the EA trailers fine, but everything else(ie demos, trailers etc) I try to download results in me getting an error saying 'Connection Lost.'

I don't think its anything to do with space because I can download aracade games, some of which are 35mb, but can't download trailers, some of which are only 11mb.

I have 7GB left on my HDD.

Thanks for any suggestions.

BTW: I have opened up ports UDP 88, and UDP/TCP 3074 on my router.

Phoned up Xbox support several times I can get different answers to whats wrong each time.

My NAT is fine, as its open when I run the XBL test connection.
My MTU is fine, as its set to 1500 on my router.

Anyone of the end of the phone seems to think its my BB providers fault, but has anyone else had problems with Live and NTL recently?

Strange as I have been able to d/l fine the last 3 months, but only after the last 2-3 days have I had trouble.

I work for ntl tech support but more specificly i deal with console support, i haven't heared anything about not being able to download the trailers ect though, i would say it has to be a problem with the live service or your console as you can download from the Arcade, if it were an issue with your connection you wouldn't be able to download at all.....

The problem could be that the demos are much larger than the arcade games. If the connection is flakey then it's much more likely to fail during a large file than a small one. maybe it's just got worse recently. Hopefully a new box will sort it.

hope you get it sorted mate.

That would be another possibilty but he did state that he has been able to download Arcade games that are 35mb but is unable to download trailers that are only 11mb which would suggest that the section for downloading trailers would connect to a different server or through different ports etc and these are causing a problem

I'm not saying its not going to be an issue wiuth his connection but from the information he's provided it doesn;t sound like a connection fault, it will be interesting to find out if a box swap does resolve the issue....

P.s. can you let me know if a new set top box does resolve the issue please

Just rang up Customer Services and they are charging 50 pounds for a cable modem!

I have to get in touch with tech support to get them to say that I actually require one due to a faulty set top box. Not sure if they will though because there probably isn't anything technically wrong with my set top box.

Apparently the reason there could be an issue is because the older set top boxes struggle under heavy traffic.

Strange though because I was downloading fine 2 weeks ago!

One of my mates is reporting extreme slowdown on NTL while downloading on Live.

My live downloads are also painfully slow but there is no way im ringing NTL to see if there is a problem as they have the worst customer support EVER, i havent got the time or paitence to spent 1/2 hour listening to hold music!

They probably stealth nurfed all the people not actually paying for there console service :P

Their customer service isn't too bad, takes about 5 minutes to get through most times, and the number is free.

I normally just use the broadband medic as it has an option to talk to someone through it.

I been having the same problem for the last 4 days.'Connection Lost.'
(am with C & W).

But i think it's because i had my PC doing a lot of downloading at the same time...

I've seen lots of ntl users having all sorts of problems with XBL. Mostly reported onthe avforums in the past. Not been there in a while, but it's obviously an ntl prob.

Could be that you have a lot of ntl customers down your road and it's affecting the quality of the service?

Mine's been fine but I think I'm pretty much the only one round here on ntl.

Not sure about that, but if it was, what could I ask them to do?

They've already tried putting me on a different server.
