Hi guys,

Just wondering if you can help me with some xbox live trouble i am having?

I have phoned the customer support a few times and now it has been escalated and they still don't know what they are talking about so i figured i would try you guys,

What happens is, i can connect to live and the marketplace fine, my friends list works fine and i can send text and voice messages, but if i try and join a chat session it fails,

Very rarely i can join online games, when i can i can hear people talking on headsets but they cannot hear me,

most of the time though whenever i try to connect to an online game it dies on me,

my nat status is open, and i use the same setup on my ps3 and that works great,

Hope someone can help as i am paying for a useless service, Thanks

Ahh. You haven't enabled a child account accidentally have you, or turned parental controls on that disables you from chatting. Think this is an option in the System Settings tab.

No, there are no privacy or parental controls set, i am the only user of the console.

i keep trying to explain to MS support but none of them are english and it makes it very difficult

Update here, if i plug my xbox into my modem directly xbox live works great, can anyone recommend a good router with a decent price tag that will support a wireless G network and has a built in 4 port ethernet switch also it must definately work with xbox live?

Also all other routers that i have had restart randomly or just lock up, this one has been ok until i decided i wanted to play my 360 online,

Any help appreciated, thanks

BALLS i just wrote out a really nice long post for you and grabbed my mouse only to hit one of those 'back' shortcut buttons on it.

Sigh

In summary if you need a cable DSL router go for a linksys wrt54GL or similar. These can have custom FW loaded if you have any live trouble. Ive also had success with buffalo routers and netgear. take it as you like.
