Hi, just signed upfor xbox live and got this message up when running the test. Read the FAQ but that just says buy a Live! compatible router which I'd rather not do tbh.

Is there anything I can alter on my router to get around this?

Ta

I have the BT Home Hub as my router, can anyone tell me how to do this on their please? I have no software installed for it btw...was told by the lovable folk at BT that i dont need to :)

hi, can some 1 tell me how i find this, im using vista, i dont know what im looking 4?

you all need to log into your router and find a dmz option.

open internet explorer and in the address bar type
192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

log in with your admin credentials and set up the DMZ.

when i do this, it searches for it on live search - can anyone help me please :S

You don't necessarily need to enable DMZ on the the 360's IP. Just make sure your router has uPnP (Universal Plug n' Play) mode enabled. My Xbox live account was coming up with NAT issues until I enabled uPnP and rebooted it. Not had any problems since :D

Finally got my Nat set to open after messing about with the settings. Got it working after enabling the DMZ option (and lots of other faffing about.)

Has been a pain though as I have my 360 connected to my PC.

Turn on your xbox 360 and go to system>network settings>edit settings

then look at IP address. Should be along the lines of 192.168.1.**

You need this ip address for when you enable the DMZ

*EDIT* after reading again are you still trying to log onto your router? If so read the manual if you have it.

3 choices:

Enable DMZ (worst choice)
Enable UPnP (good choice)
Forward ports 3074 and 88 to the 360 (best choice)

Just disabled DMZ and changed ports to 3074 and 88 which gave me a nat status of strict. Then I changed the protocol from UDP to TCP (whatever that is) and my nat status is now open.

Will leave it at that, thanks!

For those having trouble with forwading ports, try this site:
http://portforward.com/

Alternatively (as already mentioned) you can just enable UPnP on the router and your 360 should work without any problems. If your router dislikes working with UPnP turned on then forward the ports for LIVE!.

No problem. It's always good to leave DMZ alone for testing and not have anything relying on being on a DMZ :)
