Hi,
Does anyone know,
Whats the deal on connecting an original xbox to a pc tft monitor via a d-sub or a dvi connector. Can it be done? What is the default resolution output of an xbox.

Any help would be welcomed.

There's a product called the XGA Box that handles this for resolutions up to 1024x768, and then there's the Neoya X2VGA 2 which handles HD resolutions after you plug component cables into it.

I've heard that it's also possible to build a VGA cable yourself out of a RGB scart, if you're into that kind of thing.

I connected my xbox to a dell 2001 screen via a s-video connection as there are'nt any offical vga or dvi cables available.

The image quailty was ok but not as good as a normal crt telly i.e. image does not blur.

But i think you can get component cables for an xbox

which will be better on a tft that have that kind of connection, the new dells

Late reply, but the best option is the X2VGA+ . It's the previous model to the X2VGA2, but IMO much better as it connects directly to the AV socket on the xbox and then gives you a VGA socket. They sold for about $80inc pnp from Neoya. The X2VGA2 now though is made for multiple consoles and therefore doesn't connect directly which I think is a bit naff.

If you have toruble finding an X2VGA+ (or anyone else for that matter), I may have one knocking around in the study.

Cheers.

there is an official VGA cable available, and i have an unofficial one from joytech and it is very good but i have heard that composite is better than vga when it comes to xbox 360

i would be interested and your opinion on both models if you want to email me :)

I'd suggest you edit to disguise that email address from spammers (mainly the automated ones). Not many better ways to get yourself thoroughly spammed that have your email in full viewable on the internet.
