Xbox One Controller Compatability with PC?

I popped into a well known electronics shop today and in the pc peripherals section they had Xbox One controllers on display.

I was just wondering if the xbox one controllers are compatible with pc? Googling tells me they're not compatible...

Anyone care to shed some light on this? Thanks!

I have tried it with the play and charge cable just to check an no it does not work.

I read a driver will become available in 2014

I thought play and charge cables supply only power, not signal.

The cable carries the signal also you can still use the pad without a battery pack with just the cable plugged in

^ Yes, this has changed from 360 where previously play and charge you would still send wireless signal.

The 360 pad is the best controller available for PC. You would hope they follow suit with the One.
