Beginning today, new PC drivers for the Xbox One controller will be available for download, offering PC gamers a better way to play using the Xbox One controller. We’re planning to release the drivers as part of a Windows update in the near future; however, today, I am happy to offer early access to our dedicated PC gamers on MajorNelson.com.

We know our fans have wanted PC compatibility, and we know they wanted to be able to use the Xbox One controller with the same games and applications they have been playing with using the Xbox 360 controller. We can’t wait for them to play their favorite PC games with what we consider the best controller ever made and we’re excited for fans to experience the improved D-pad, redesigned battery compartment, new comfortable design and offset analog sticks. The new PC drivers will enable the Xbox One controller to be used with any game that featured gamepad support for the Xbox 360 controller. Simply download the drivers, connect your Xbox One controller to your computer through a micro USB cable and you’ll be gaming in no time.

We look forward to sharing more about the amazing lineup of games coming to Xbox during our Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing, Xbox: Game On, which will take place Monday, June 9 beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 a.m. PDT.

Also Halo 2 running on something that isn't vista? MS might actually be doing something right again :D

What's the difference between the old and new aside from cosmetics?

If nothing, then it's a rip off...

Different shape/better dpad/rumble triggers/better thumbsticks/better triggers.

Worse is probably the bumper buttons if you don't use them as intended.

I'm sure most will be happy with their 360 controller though, it isn't hard to pop to a shop and hold one though.

Hmmmm, well, my 2 360 pads have done me well over the years, one has a stick that slowly pushes to the right if you don't nudge it to the left. Which is a minor annoyance for games with NO deadzones on the sticks.

And the other has seen better days. I will pop into Game on the weekend and have a gander, see what's what. But yea, would be good if they are compatible with the old wireless adapter, I assume they won't be?

360 controller served me well, and its wireless. Must admit do sometimes use a DS4 to play project cars, something about the Sony Ds4 that makes it a pretty good gamepad.

Can't see me rushing out to buy an X1 controller for PC when the Sony DS4 works just fine, and I've also got my trusty 360 wireless pad for sofa gaming with the laptop if I so want to.
