xbox one headset adapter trouble...

As title really, for some reason when i try and update the controller when prompted it just tells me that the controller is not plugged! I took out the battery pack etc. Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me nuts!

If you haven't tried it reboot the console fully, seems to work for me when I have any trouble.
