Some free dlc things as well. It's mostly the free game though. That's £50 value there going by current prices so if it's of interest to you then it's worth it.
Completely agree. It's good to see companies trying something new as well. Not everything will pan out (I can already see a load of people moaning about Kinect), but I imagine there will be features on both consoles that turn out to be so amazing, we'll wonder how we ever managed without them.I know, the more I think about what 'next gen' means to me, it's not so much graphics (as they are pretty damn good to be fair) it's about things like AI/physics and features like this that give a better 'experience' and one that is next generation.
Oh yeah, it's a great advantage for developers knowing every Xbox One owner has a Kinect, but they still need to come up with some innovative ways of using it to make it appeal to more than the family market. Games like Kinect Sports are fun, but they're not going to convince the hardcore gamers that Kinect is actually useful.Kinect will either do two things, suck for most people that cant care to use it.
Or will completely blow people away at how good/ accurate, and more importantly, what Devs get out of it.
It's surly got to be a huge advantage to them knowing that EVERY X1 owner has it sitting to use.
Or even to make a pointing hand gesture to mark enemies in the distance.
Also, now that Kinect recognises the controller, you could in theory use it like how Heavy Rain uses the DS3 - moving it up and down or side to side to do things.
Yes but it can also 'see' the controller so who knows?
Dead Rising 3 is meant to be including a point gesture, where you can point to a place and tell your survivors to go to it and defend it. Could be easier doing that than trying to do it with your controller.

That's very next gen, I like that feature a lot. Should be really helpful for people who find themselves stuck on games, to simply call up an app that has a video guide for you to watch. Very cool indeed.
One of the things I think has always put people off of the kinect is one simple thing....the motion controls require you to stand up (for the most part). If devs can think of ways to incorporate motion controls whilst sitting down and something that can also be done with a controller in hand then I think thats when people will start to accept it.
Voice controls are good and all (I use them all the time when watching netflix etc) but its meant to be the motion controls that set kinect apart from a ps camera
Seriously? Who doesn't have a phone or tablet to hand? I'd much rather have the 10% performance loss back.

I will personally never buy a console at launch after being burned when buying an N64 and Nintendo dropping the price soon after!
I was also burned by the N64 price drop but I'm not overly concerned about it this time round as I can't see there being any likelihood of similar price drops. Even if sales are terrible and Microsoft drop the price, by say £100 next year, to compete with the PS3 I've gotten a free game with the day one pack so it's only a saving of £50 in real terms. For that I'd rather have the xbox at launch TBH than wait a year for it.
Also, the PS4 is remarkably cheap for a launch console so I doubt there's any chance of Sony discounting it anytime soon. Especially seeing as they're still charging £200 for the PS3 at the moment and that was over £425 at launch 7 years ago! Very nearly the same as the Xbone is selling for now actually!
Feedback from the states about the controller does not sound good.
Isn't it the six-axis inside the ds3 that allows you to do that though. The kinect just uses IR to detect the controller so I don't think that would be possible
