Do i just need any old Bluetooth dongle to connect to my PC? (it doesn't have Bluetooth at the moment)

Cheers

Bluetooth dongle will work fine for the revised S controller which has bluetooth built in. That said, I have found connection finicky at times on multiple PC's with bluetooth while the separate windows adaptor like linked above works perfect.

I tried Bluetooth first and had hassle with it so i ended up buying the proper wireless adaptor which works great..

OK, that's great I'll go with the official dongle. My surface book has one built in so never needed it before.

Also means I can get a non S version

It used to be far cheaper to buy the gamepad with the wireless adaptor included bundle but am not sure if Microsoft is still selling this bundle

I can see the dongle + controller from quick google search for £46. Cant link as they are a competitor, but may google it to find it. Not going to be able to get it much cheaper then that buying separate.

Another vote for the offical wireless dongle. Been using one for a few years now and apart from a handful of times where it failed to connect, which is solved by unplugging the dongle and plugging back in, it's been perfect. Not worth the potential frustration of using Bluetooth via a third party dongle.
