Hello people! I have an Xbox One S style controller which is faulty and 'sticks' in one direction when I play games. I purchased in a store around 8 months ago, sadly I no longer have the receipt and paid in cash at the time.

Considering the Xbox One S only came out around 12 months ago I thought Microsoft would be able to honor the warranty for me since its only been available such a short time. However when I contacted there customer service they will only replace it if I own an Xbox console which seems completely mad to me.

Any advice or things I should try before I rip open my controller to fix it and void the warranty?

If the only thing holding them back from replacing it is you owning a console, then surely the obvious answer to just tell them that you do have an XBox.

I thought of this, but it relies on a serial number etc. Sadly my 'friends' who own Xbox consoles are too stingy to help me get a replacement.
