I recently got myself an Xbox 1S and am struggling to connect it up to my Benq 3201PT 4k monitor.

The monitor has various inputs for 4k, some of which are limited to 30hz.

2x HDMI - 4k@30
1xDP - 4k@60
1xMiniDP - 4k@60

Seeing as the xbox only has an HDMI out and is not willing to output to a HDMI IN on the Benq because it isn't 60 hz, are there any options with converters etc to get this to work from HDMI to DP?

My understanding is with all the 4k@60 adapters I can see for sale (DP/HDMI) they are unidirectional and not from HDMI to DP.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Unfortunately not.

Just run it at 1080p? The monitor will upscale it.

Games aren't native 4k anyway.

And if you are using it for Ultra HD blu-ray they run at 24fps anyway.

Thanks for the quick response.

I presume it will actually play Ultra HD @24 via HDMI. At the moment it doesn't even want to output to HDMI even on the menu screen?

If I am using it at 1080p I will just hook it up to the 1080p TV rather than the monitor.

Yep just like TVs - actually I probably mean drivers now I think about it properly...

ps3ud0

Surely the drivers will only make a difference when used with Windows? Unless the driver updates the firmware on the monitor itself during installation?

I'm going to email Benq to ask them why they have suggested that it does have HDMI 2.0.

Nope, I had a Dell 2407WFP that needed an update to fully support HDCP back in the day. I know weve had the same question in the past where the same advice has fixed the issue...

I'll give it a try, thanks for the tip :)

Sorry if you have double checked this, but doesnt the xbox one s also have the tv hdmi in as well?
My brother couldnt get his xbox one to work with his tv but then realised he had the hdmi cable plugged into the hdmi in socket

Good point and I have checked, definitely in the HDMI out here!

Well I updated the drivers..no change. The monitor is suggesting a resolution of 4k@30 but the Xbox is not willing to play.

You're actually selecting hdmi on your monitor as the input and you get a blank screen? 30FPS is acceptable for console games in anyway, if you can't set the hdmi to 1080p, or if you get sick of changing it manually everytime you use it.

The monitor auto selects HDMI although I can also manually select it. The problem is not a blank screen, the Xbox insists on outputting at 1080p because my '4K TV does not support these settings' and if I manually force 4K the Xbox reverts to 480p! The monitor meanwhile is reminding me the ideal resolution is '4K'.

There is 2 possibilities:

1) The cable.
2) The monitor is not compatible.

This is based on the assumption that you've got the monitor manual downloaded and have tried every setting config.

1. Using the provided cable that came with the Xbox

2. The manual as is found here and the monitor itself says optimal resolution '3840x2160@30' in the menu when connected.

I've tried every single type of picture mode once connected and tried using both HDMI ports.
