I'm considering getting a console but I don't know which one to go for

I do prefer the Xbox controller but I read that the PS4 has more performance than an Xbox one with some games running at a higher resolution and higher FPS - Is this true

The only thing it'd come down to for me is performance - I want the best performing console

I'm not to fussed about exclusives

Get whatever your friends have.

As for performance, I can't tell the difference between the two.

Didn't you have a PS4?!

If you don't want exclusives, then buy whatever has the better ergonomics, better current deal or features outside of games.

Both consoles do a good job of games along with their media functions at their current price.

i have both consoles and even when me and my son put the same games on at the same time both on a 42" tv there literally is no dif inho. even games where fanboys claim that the x1 has the better looking game neither of us can see a dif. me personally i would just go for the console where friends and family are using

Go where your friends are, or for what has the better exclusives for your tastes. The choice was easy for me as my mates got PS4s and I prefer the exclusives.

Performance being the only factor then the PS4 is your choice for a console. Only thing better is obviously a decent pc.

Nothing else to be said if that's your only factor. I do enjoy my Xbox one though and don't feel I'm missing out.

According to the MM you had both and sold the PS4 and Xbox? Wut

I purchased both initially around launch - Set me back quite a bit. I only played Fifa on the PS4 and Forza on the Xbox one so can't really give a fair impression on which one I preferred. I certainly preferred the Xbox one pad though, I went through a couple pads on the PS4 as the rubber kept wearing away on the analogue sticks.

I have a really good spec gaming PC now and want to dive into console gaming again - So just trying to make my mind up. Seems like the PS4 runs more games at higher resolutions from what I've just read

how big is the performance dif in actual noticable gameplay between the 2???

Ahhhh good old Tom D, you had a PS4 along with FIFA 14. I remember your rage on that thread :)

This type of thread is all over every gaming forum on the tinterwebs and there is stacks of comparision articles already. Just get both again, easy :)

I guess the question should also be how noticeable are the differences between the consoles? Some games on the Xbox one run at 720p and some on the PS4 run at 900p - Not much of a difference really

Ps4 is the higher performing console.

It's a 40% difference. Very few games on ps4 run at 900p and those that do look worse than the usual 1080p.

I can't compare the performance between the two, as I don't own the same game on both, but they're both great consoles.

I recently picked up a PS4 for exclusives, and i'm surprised at how much better the pad is this time round. I had a PS3 before that, and ended up selling it on quickly as the pad was dung. The new pad is considerably, and I mean considerably better. To the point where it shouldn't affect your decision on which console to buy. The One pad is still the better pad imo, but the gap between the two has never been smaller.

I thought i'd only ever buy exclusives for the PS4, but i'm actually starting to consider getting multi platforms on it if one version is supposed to be 'better' (IE, the Witcher 3). When all things are equal however, ala Wolfenstein, it'll be the One.

I guess that's the benefit of having both, being able to pick and choose which console to get the multi platform games on, as well as exclusives for both. But yeah, if you only want to buy one my decision would be based on:

- Take a look at the exclusives, pick the one that has the most exclusives you prefer
- Which console do your friends play on

Both of those are more important than a difference in resolution, imo.

I love the trophies so I can categorically say I will be a Sony Pony forever now. Even if the PS5 comes up less powerful than the next Xbox.
