The 360, Also, depending on how old the kid. Kinect can be great, My cousin who is 7 loves kinectimals. And no pad confusion!

The two mentioned are extremely limited when it comes to games for children.

Seriously though I've had both & have kid/grandkids & I'd have them on a 360, Loads of back catalogue cheap games, Easier/Better online experience & more of there mates will be on 360.

If I were a parent, the last thing I'd want is for my son / daughter to grow up liking Gears of War and Call of Duty.

But that's just me.
