I had to stop pc gaming for the most part about 6 years ago, being sat at a desk all day with a keyboard and mouse meant it was basically no fun, nor good for my bones!

I've done most of the gaming on the 360/XB1 but am in the process of building a rig for the titles i've missed during this time.

Ideally I still want to use a pad to save my joints though so for PC gaming is the steam controller worth it? Particularly if I have a number of 360/XB1 pads kicking around?

No. Use an Xbox pad. Its officially supported by all PC games that support pads, and doesn't have odd setups or fiddling needed to get working.

You will need a dongle. 360 ones are very hard to find so you will be better off going for an XB1 one.

I have the steam controller and I find it hard to use compared to the xbox. Barely used it, I think it need to go to a new home.

The most recent Windows 10 drivers caused lag issue with all games. Easily solved by installing an earlier driver. I think they may have fixed it now anyway as I've updated Windows and seen no return if the issues.

The new S controller due end of August is Bluetooth so won't need a dongle (other than a BT one if you need it)

There isn't a wired XB1 is there?

Probably more expensive to buy another controller rather than just a dongle for an existing controller.

I was still referring to the X360 wired as they are only like £15 IRRC but the official dongles were still ridiculously priced the last time i checked this may have changed however

If you already have spare XBox controllers then I wouldn't bother with a Steam controller. I use a XBox One controller via a dongle for my PC gaming and it's great.

This really.

I used a wired 360 controller as I had one anyway and moved onto a xbox one controller as it feels much better. Wireless dongle is as simple as it ever has been, plug in and play!
