Noc 13 07 I purchased my XBox 360 with HDMI port and 20Gb drive. Today (09 Nov 08) the Xbox has started to play up, it locked up during Forza 2 and then again during the console bootup sequence.

I turned it off and left it half and hour but within 2 mins of turning it on again it had locked up again. Each time it locks up the graphics on screen are corrupt. I don't get the RRoD though.

I plan to take it back to the high street catalog shop today, what are my options with regards to a replacement/refund, I originally paid £249.99.

good luck with that. I tried taking one back there after mine locked up a few times and even with the sales of goods act they wasn't interested. They just told me to call MS

I tried to take a faulty camera back to the above mentioned store and they insisted that I had to send it off to Fujitsu for repair. I tried 2 different stores and they both said the same. Took it back to a third store and said that I had only had the camera for a week and that I had lost the receipt and they refunded me the money at the lowest price that the camera had ever been sold, which was £10 less than what I had originally paid. So sometimes it's easier to take items back without the receipt.

so was mine but they wasn't interested. You might get lucky though. Also you might want to edit the store name out, not sure if they're a competitor or not.

now I get 3 segments of the red ring flashing when I turn it on (upper right quadrant doesn't flash)

Just contact Microsoft and get the ball rolling. The shop you purchased from will not take it back, as they will just advise you that all they would do is send it back to Microsoft for you, and you would be better doing that yourself.

on closer inspection of the receipt, it's actually a week outside of warranty (I misread the hand written date of an item I'd previously replaced). How long do microsoft take to replace it?

2 weeks tops. My brother had his back within a week and a half. Some have had it returned within the week.

This month last year (cant be bothered finding my thread) I tried to return
my Xbox360 to that same high street catalog shop and let say It didnt
go down to well.
It involved me legging It out the store before I was arrested and I booted their xmas tree over on the way out.

Don't know why but that just made me chuckle.

Hope yours got sorted.

As mine is a week out of the 12 month warranty I need to contact MS about the 3 year RRoD warranty.

lol. I had to send it off to good ole bill gates and i wasnt gonna be without my baby for 2 or so weeks so i bought another while i waited :D

I still cant go in that store for obvious reason which is a pain lol.

I would go in and say that the xbox isn't working properly, i bought a golden lancer with gears of war 2 the other day, took it back as it didn't work and their was scratches dint's all over it.

After about 5 min's of persistence i managed to get a full refund, you have to persist.
