the RRoD fix was a success... for now. Was tempted to keep the case off but I have a 3yr old and my study is no longer safe from him.

Was a pig to get all the gunk off the chips and heatsinks but now I have done one I'd be quite happy to do it again (not on my console though!)

Gonna pop my Hawkz 2 Disk back in and get down to some hardcore Mig action.
 
on a futher note. Does anybody know the best place to PX the bad boy? I see Gamestation are CRAP with what they are offering.
 
It's a GPU memory glitch and it's not fixable. Once that happens, it stays that way. The memory is physically damaged.

Us PC gamers with years of overclocking graphics cards know it all too well.
 
Sold my original just shy of the 3 years RRoD warranty cut-out. Never had any issues with it. Bought a replacement and it's still running perfectly also. Guess I got real lucky as so many people have had problems with theirs. Now I've said all this, it will no doubt RRoD on me, explode and take out a few of my toes with it. :rolleyes:
 
Tbh when it dies you could sell it on the OcUK MM explaining exactly what you've done. Someone might want it for the DVD drive etc. Failing that there is always the bay.

J-Taggers will be wanting the keyvault off of it. They can go for quite hefty prices too.

The console is running a "custom" dvd FW. Not that I am able to talk about that.

Just happy that for now I can carry on hunting the orbs... its addictive.

The DVD FW hack has nothing to do with JTAGing and extracting the Keyvault :)

The KV can only be extracted if the console can be JTAG modded, and it can only be JTAG modded if it's an older version of the dashboard, and even then it's not guaranteed to be exploitable.

A thought guys. Will shops really PX a console that's been repaired, in view of the fact that the case has been opened (and presumably warranty voided), or do they just not care?
