Just a quick question for the 360 owners:

I've currently got my 360 on its side as I'm a bit tight for space, is this going to do it any harm?

I know the old PS2s would have laser alignment issues if they were on their side constantly and I know the 360 is a little twitchy, not sure if this will cause problems?

Mine was on its side for 15 months till it died :) And to be fair, I know plenty of 360s that died at that age so I don't think it was how I positioned it :p
Just make sure there's ventilation around it and the power supply.

Have had mine on its side since day one and no problems so far.

At the end of the day it has feet on the side so obviously its meant to go like that.

On a serious note, it makes much less noise when horizontal to vertical (which kinda sounds obvious considering the disc would be less stable when spinning vertically). To me it was noticeable so mine is Horizontal now.

And as ic1male said, I would be concerned about disc scratching as well.

I really don't understand how people have scratched discs. Must have had a good 70-80 discs in the 360 during the time it was vertical, not a single scratch.

I had mine stood vertically for a year, and its been horizontol for 15 months after that. No problems either side.

I have mine horizontal.

Mainly because it wont fit between the upper and lower desk units vertically, and partly because the air intake is on the 'base' were the console to be vertical.

mines horizontal, much quiter that way I find. I heard a lot of folks had problems with disc scratching when the xbox was positioned vertically, but dont know if this was an early issue that was resolved, or if it was people not being careful enough. Ive never had my vertical so cant comment on the scratching personally.
