Hi I am currently trying to save for a gaming monitor for both my PC and Xbox, but while I am doing that I am trying to find a way for me to hook my Xbox upto my current monitor, its a 23" but only has a VGA out connection.

I know I can get a Xbox to VGA lead but I dont know how to get sound through as the monitor has no speakers, can I use my current speakers in anyway or can I just use a headset, or does a headset need to come through the display?

Also how well will it display on a 1920x1080 through the lead I mentioned above?

Hey Nox25,
you can get a xbox to VGA cable which has the audio leads attached so you can connect up to any sound system you have already.
To connect to your Monitor you can buy a VGA switch box / splitter that will allow you to connect your xbox & pc at the same time, then all you need to do is flip the switch to the device you want to use.
As for 1920x1080, not sure if VGA supports it, but the xbox should tell you what the max resolution you can get.
Hope that helps.

I have set this up for a friends 360, and the sound goes to some stereo (Red and White) phono plugs, which would be good for an amplifier or a headset like some TBs - but you also get a phono to 3.5mm adapter, which is good for plugging into some speakers with a stereo input. The display isn't involved with the cables sound output.

And the quality is fine, there isn't usually a discernible difference between HDMI/DVI and VGA connections - it's just that digital signals are less prone to signal loss. But you shouldn't worry about that.
