Right, I've not had a games console for about 5 years and have recently thought about getting either an Xbox or PS3 but I'm not really sure which would I should go for.

Can anybody advise which would be the best one and where has the best deals on. I'm normally play sports games as well as first person shooters.

Sorry if this has already been posted, if so then just post the link to the thread and I'll have a look at that. :)

Have you got any friends who have either, if so get that one, if not then do you want to be able to play Blu-ray movies ?

Look at the exclusive games to each console and see if that makes you err to either system.

Only really 3 points on this:

1. What do your friends play? Online I mean.
2. Do you have a gaming PC? If so then get the PS3. Most of the Xbox 360 exclusives appear on the PC. PS3 exclusives stay on PS3
3. Don't let the price of the console persuade you. There isn't much in it when you factor in (for the 360) online sub, wireless adapter and play n charge kits.

That's it really, they are both good.

I've got friends both and the Xbox seems to be the more popular console. Some of them have said that the PS3 is just an expensive Blu-ray player!

Do you have to pay to play online with both of them?

Dangrous question. Although I'll give you my personal opinion.

Personally I had an xbox, switched to PS3 then came back to the 360. I just prefer the console dashboard and think the whole 'online' aspect is a lot clearer and easier.

I prefer the type of games on 360 and the controller itself. The PS3 always used to hurt my thumb on the edge of the analog stick.

The PS3 feels more grown up but I just couldnt get on with it. The added bonus of bluray is good but I wouldnt let it be the deciding factor.

So in summary I've covered no REAL reason why you should pick either but hey its the thought that counts?

Oh.. and there are some awesome deals on 360's at the moment but obviously cant say where!

PS3 is free XBOX is a subscription. £40 or so a year off the top of my head i think?

You can get a years sub a lot cheaper, if you pay monthly (like I did for ages) its pretty expensive.

I have a PS3 and a 360 and tbh I only ever play Blurays on the PS3. I don't much like the pads, specially seeing as mines an older 'sixaxis' which weighs nothing and feels wrong. The PS3 is very slick but I just prefere the 360.

Now adays the fact it plays Blurays should be a facter as you can pick up a standalone player for pretty cheap.

ive had both, the 360 was just a dust collector due to rather play on my PC so sold that (few weeks later it rcod'ed on the person i sold it to, must have not had not more then 20 hours game play on it when i sold it, though i had it a year and half.)

now got a ps3 slim and love it, imo it beats the 360 in everyway except 1 thing and thats the 360 pad

my vote goes to PS3

i used to own a 360 a while back, then sold it and got a ps3 and don't regret it at all. i hear that the 360 is better for online play but even when i had the 360 i very rarely play online so that doesn't bother me

Well i bought a 360 back in the summer and was surprised how good it was.
Plus at the mo you can get a 360 for £140 plus 3 games which is pretty good vfm.
My main problem's with the ps3 is price and lack of a killer ps3 only title.

I have both.
I pretty much only play on the 360 because it has better pad, and far better online. Only for exclusives like uncharted do i get the PS3 out.

BUT saying that if you do have a gaming PC, then get a PS3 as mentioned above 360 exclusives do usually end up on the PC.

I dont think the question is so dangerous anymore. a lot of the blatant fanboys have moved on and grown up, and the others....Well people have learnt to ignore and laugh at them.

Your best bet is to look at the games available on each console and go for the one with the best line up for yourself.

Online wise, although you pay for one and not the other, paying doesnt break the bank, you can get a sub for 26 quid PER YEAR.

Main difference between the machines now are the inbuilt wireless and the bluray player available on PS3, But although that used to be a reason to get the PS3 over the 360, Now you can pick up a stand alone Bluray player and a 360 for the price of the PS3.

So as said, it's only ever going to come down to the games. :)

If you don't game much, and normally only buy big releases then get a 360.

Ps3 has aurgueable better games and a better lineup in 2010, but what's the point if all you play is modern warfare 2, pro evo and tekken which are all better on 360.

Another both vote. You'll find great exclusives for all genres on either console.

If you can't afford both, buy based on which games you fancy most and which console your friends have.

I have both and play the xbox 360 more, as mentioned above there is a great deal at present for the console with 3 games
