Got an xbox 360 which is connected to my network. I can stream audio ok , if there any way I can stream video via the network.

'm running XP2 + SP2 :)

Yeh, encode it as an a .WMA file :)

Or use a special program to do it on the fly, Transcode 360 is one I think.

Transcode360 is awesome, however it only works on Media Center.

Apart from that, you're stuck with re-encoding video into the WMV format.

Not strictly true, you could always use this http://www.tversity.com/home

I still use transcode360 becuase I use the media centre for all my pics and music, seems development of transcode 360 has pretty much stopped, there hasnt been a new release or update since christmas.

Or you can use Orb

I think its quite a neat bit of free software. Simply install onto your PC, create an account and then the 360 will see the files you have specified to share on the PC. It will also encode on the fly, so you do not need the files to be in .WMA format. However, a PC quicker than my old XP2800+ would be better as for me it does take 10 or so seconds to start streaming.

It also does some neat things like list a 'You Tube' folder, amongst others, in the Video section of your 360 so you can watch the most popular downloads!

And finally once Orb is installed and an account has been created, you can log into your PC from any browser and view all your shared photo's and media from any PC.
