Xbox warranty question

Hi :)

i have a few ways to solve this problem since i have a few xbox's etc but would rather go through official channels if possible.

I bought my xbox 2 years ago and never registered it, about 3 months ago it broke and i phoned MS they registered the console there and then (never asked about age) and then took it and fixed it (mobo and gfx card / dvd drive, pretty much full unit) now the dvd drive is again rolloxed, it seems to never accept a disk first time i have to eject the tray then press the button and take it back in. and occasionally i get flare ups with gfx and have to turn off and restart and now i get the occasional bottom right red light (which i believe is hardware failure)

am i still under warranty from MS assuming they only registered my console from 3 months ago?

whats the current best way to abort an xbox? (apart from comedy answers please)
 
I dont think you will be under warranty for the drive i'm afraid mate, they're likely to know the manufacture date from the serial number.

the problem you're having though can be fixed very easily, there's a thread on here about it and videos on youtube.
 
spoke to them as expected they said over 12 months they dont give a monkeys unless its a 3 rl's.

so 3 rrod it is :)

60 quid for a new dvd drive seems extreme to me
 
swapped it with the one upstairs which doesnt get much use.if nothing else i shall make use of it as a media extender.

nm ill just buy one once a year still 15 quid a month for all the entertainment and enjoyment i get out of it its worth it :)
 
i considered it but the drive is kinda still working (once every other boot up), and if i rrod it and they send it back with the same dvd drive i have the same problem. im thinking it will rrod itself soon enough anyway.

so my options are

A) 3 rrod it and hope they replace the dvd drive along with everything else.
B) trade it in at game and hope it works the time they test it.
C) use it as an extender in my bedroom which is pretty much what the other one was doing, with the odd game here and there when the wife is watching some crap soap and im in.


still pondering over it really want to leave it a week or 2 if i decide im going to rrod it, so MS dont think im a complete fraud.
