#Won an Xbox direct from Microsoft at an event.
#Have no form of receipt.
#Selling it and don't want to register it.

Any idea how I find out the status of the warranty? :p

Looks like they changed the webpage and you need to register the serial number of the console before you can check the warranty status.

I doubt it matters that it was won and there's no receipt, they've always just gone from the serial number.

Maybe worth ringing MS customer support and asking them to check the warranty status if you don't want to register it online. You can always remove it from your live id once you've registered it to check it though so it may be worth just doing that.

you need your receipt in order to prove there was a contract between you and the seller

Since you havent purchased this there is no contract or no seller for you to go to.

You only have the hardware warranty provided by the manufacturer. For this you don't need proof or purchase. The warranty is provided with the product, how you came about that product (eg being given it as a gift by a friend) makes no difference to their warranty process.

Theres no need to lie, just tell it how it is when you sell it.

When my Xbox RROD'd I didn't have to provide any proofs of purchase, they just went off the manufacture date of the console (is printed on the back) and it was fine.

What is the manufacture date on the Xbox? Worst case the warranty status is that +12 months!
