Hi, just seem to have bought an Xbox elite from on here.

What else can I do with/on it other than play games? I know they can download HD movies but how easy is it?

Basically I'm after a newbs guide to what I can do on it?

:D

Other than connecting to facebook and sky and watch movies not a lot else.

Its a gaming console...

Quite easy - you just navigate to the market place and select movies and purchase - however you'll need a lot of xbox points, they're not the cheapest and you only 'rent' the movie.

Other than that you can play all 360 games (no duh) and download additional content such as extra missions, extra cars etc etc. Plus you can play a large selection of original xbox games (there is a list somewhere).

Personally I like it for streaming movies/music etc from the PC which is also easy to set up.

It works well as an Windows Media Extender, but only if you install the Divx Plus HD for Windows bundle 7 (I'm fairly certain it doesn't work on older versions of windows), this allows it to stream H.264/MKV of any size to the 360.

how wrong you are ;)

You can stream media from your PC wirelessly
Listen to Last.FM
watch sky tv (you need a sky subscription)
watch HD movies as you already mentioned
Then when project Natal comes out later on next year, that looks very interesting indeed - gameing without the need for controllers, video calling and i'm sure many other things :)

First thing I'd do is turn off the ato boot setting if it is turned on.

Make sure you spend some time going through all of the menus on the dashboard, get yourself straight to the demos section of the game marketplace and start downloading. One thing that some people don't realise is that you can play video files directly from a USB stick in the front (or rear) of your console with a quick automatic update.

You can also install games to the hard drive to save it spinning up the DVD, simply click Y instead of pressing A to play a game when on the My Xbox menu and then choose install to hard drive.
