Xbox wired headset on pc?

id like to know this also - from what i can gather though it only seems to work with windows live enabled games. windows recognises it, crysis doesnt, gta iv recognises it and tests it within windows live perfectly as does street fighter iv but never got anyone to talk to me through it lol.

I used to use it for vent and ts2, connect it via an xbox360 pad, windows should auto install required drivers and then you can choose to use it for sound :)

I use my 360 headset for all my games on pc, sounds a bit crappy but does the job, windows recognises it as a headset just as any other, but you do need to have it plugged into a wired 360 pad

Just go to control panel/sound then the recording tab and set the headset to default

Apologies for bumping a long dead thread but having just got myself a wired headset for my 360 and having found it be pretty good, I'm wondereding about using it for voice coms when playing on my PC (mainly BF2 at the moment but with an eye on BF3 and other upcoming games).

From all the searching I've done, it seems like the method mentioned above (connecteding via a vired 360 controller) is the way to get it working but I just wondered, does this result in the game audio still being output via speakers or is it just through the headset?

In an ideal world I'd like to work as it does on the 360 with voice audio through the headset and the game audio through my speakers...

You should be able to set your VOIP programs eg Ventrilo, Teamspeak or Mumble to choose the 360 Headset via the controller as the sound device for the respective voip program and then keeping all other programs to come through your standard sound device.
