Is it worth it? I have one ethernet cable running up to the games room, which has my pc and xbox in it...

the router is down below in the office (cant move it).

I'm with be and use their router, ummmm a thomson one.

So, how does the wireless adaptor work out then? decent? I get full 5 bars 90% of the time in the house on all 3 laptops (old and new). its a 24meg connection btw

In a word yes, it's very good, very expensive at full price mind, but worth it none-the-less!
A certain online shoppie starting with a is currently doing them near half price, if you have a looksee.

Mines never disconnected and always has an excellent strength. If you can afford to buy one, then you should. Better than having a cable running around the house ;)

Alternatively you could consider home plugs, may work out cheaper than the wireless adapter as its pretty expensive.

A friend of mine had trouble getting a signal when he bought one. The signal had to go through two walls and they were quite thick. He found a NetGear Wireless Network Gaming Adaptor to provide a stronger signal but he has moved onto the Home Plugs and hasn't really looked back. One thing to note with regards to Home Plugs, if you want the best signal possible, do not put the plug on an extension which has many other plugs on it as this will affect strength and stability of the connection.

Well, i opted for the cheapest option... i moved into the downstairs office and moved the office into my old room :D

I am now less than 0.5m from the router/wallbox so can now have 4 ethernet connections :)

sorted :D

These are actually on offer at £35 at the moment which is almost half the RRP and well worth it in my opinion.

If thats the case, i shall dig up smoe loose change and buy one anyway, just for those days my mates come round and we move all the xbox's into the living room for a bit of network play :D

cheers guys

These homeplugs sound interesting!
The homeplugs are quite good. My little brother uses the ones we got with an old BT Homehub with his 360.

We did have a little bit of a problem with them though. They would only work on one set of plugs (out of 4) in my brothers room.

I'm thinking that this must be something to do with some rewiring we've had done (the house is quite old) as although the house is quite large (the only other problem I thought it might be) all the plugs are within about 5 feet of each other so that kind of rules it out.

Just something to bear in mind.

Using homeplugs here, used to use the official xbox adaptor to connect to BT home hub but the connection was hit & miss, dont know if it was the adaptor or hub at fault but had enough & changed to homeplugs.
