Xbox Media Center (wireless)

Anybody know how to make the xbox wireless? Spent days on it but cant get it to work.

This is what I'm trying to do...

Cable Modem<--->Wireless Router<-->Wireless AP<-->Xbox

I can't get the the wireless router (Linksys WRT54GL) to talk with the Edimax Wireless AP, well I can but with the laptop connected via rj45 to the AP it can't browse the net.

If anyones done it before let me know how you done it, or if with my hardware ts even possible....

1. Router: Linksys WRT54GL
2. Wireless Access Point: Edimax 7209APg
3. Xbox

1. is upstairs
2. is downstairs

Trying to connect xbox via rj45 to 2. which in turn should link with 1. to access all the other PC;s (trying to stream media via XBMC.)

Kind Regards.

original xbox or 360?

With the original, a ethernet to wireless bridge may work but you will need to plug in it a computer to configure it first.

If for 360, buy the Wireless Adapter. It is worth the hefty price tag for the ease of use and how it just works perfect with my WRT54GL.

Xbox (1).

Got it to work in the end. I had to disable the DHCP server on the AP since I had one running on the main router.

I finally found a guide that worked (a lot of crap out there):

Heres a review of my Access Point:

It's open source, like the famous Linksys DD-WRT routers, only that it costs half the price (cost £22) and has 3rd firmware ability.

No need to purchase an expensive 'wireless game adapter'.

Next up, I've installed XBMC, see video here for what it can do..

Following that I will be installed an Apple TV clone, see video here.

I can also watch any Apple Movie Trailers as well as You Tube Videos.

All in all, Xbox makes a great Media Center device (HTPC) with very little money cost.
