Xbox, Xbox live and serial number?

Hey everyone. I got my 360 about 3 weeks ago, set up my live account with 1 month free gold membership and skipped the part where it asked me to enter the serial number for my box.

I read on another site that if you don't do this you will not be able to have your xbox repaired by Microsoft if anything went wrong, is that true? I never got around to doing this bit as i was too lazy..

Go to www.xbox.com.
Sign in.
Go to My Xbox.
Profile.
On the right hand side, select console registration.
Register console

Get it out the way now, just in case
