Well, I connected my Xbox up to my Dell 24" and set the rez i the dashboard to 1080i, but the image looks exactly the same as 720p (same jaggies and everything). Am I missing something? I've only just got the Xbox, and all I'm playing is the PGR3 demo (some games arrivinig tomorrow I hope). I wasn't expecting the image quality to be as good as on my PC connected by DVI, but I expected an improvement over 720p. Any thoughts?

Don't get me wrong - it still looks pretty good, but I wonder whether there's a setting I'm missing or something.

pgr3 is a horrid game for jaggies. i think it was made in some crazy resolution and is in that same res before it gets rendered to somethin half decent??

wait till you get ya games or try a diff demo. you'll soon see a difference :)

Correct, PGR3 is rendered out at 600p.

as for the OPs original statement, all games on the Xbox360 bar the minority (i.e. PGR3) are rendered at 720p anyway, which is generally known for being a better resolution for watching moving images, whereas 1080i is better for slower paced, or static visuals.

I currently use a VGA cable and have mine set to 1080p, don't have any complaints, though it doesn't really look any better than lower HD resolutions.

You're probably better of sticking to 720p anyway - sometimes you do see interlacing lines at 1080i during fast motion. Pity that Dell won't accept 1080p over component. Or as Nokkon says, use the VGA connector to run at 1080p if you're not using it for your computer.

Thanks fo your thoughts guys. I reckon I'll just stick it on 720p then. Can't really complain too much about the visuals though; looks ace. Sitting a bit further from the screen helps too!
