Xbox360: Hardware: I've been hit!

maybe a better indication would be the manufactor date on the back of the console, maybe a bad batch can be determined from that?

Mine- which is ok with no glitches (so far,lol) was made on:
8th - October - 2005

I'm starting to think one of the 3 manufacturers of the 360s (Flextronics, and two others) are having quality control issues. I'm hoping my 360 is from Flextronics because I've never had anything made by them go wrong. I have had 2 dead 6800Us (XFX & Point of View), but with the exception of one, none of my Leadtek (Flextronics) cards have died.

Having said that my 360 has been fine, and probably had more use than most people's. I'm not worried about mine breaking, especially as all the people in this area (that I know, even if indirectly) who have bought 360s, have had no problems. Kind of supports the manufacturer theory though - consoles from one manufacturer would probably end up in a paticular area. Additionally if you wanted to bend the truth, you could say 2% of all consoles from X manufacturer fail, 3% below industry average... but leave out the part that references the manufacturer.

Edit: Mine was manufactured 21st October 2005, got it 3 weeks ago.
Second Edit: Also some people have complained about slowdown in certain games - I haven't had anywhere near as much slowdown :s Running through VGA @ 1024x768. Plus mine is really quite quiet (except in PGR3), yet some people say theirs is really noisy. My 360 rocks

I was the first on these forums on launch day to report a borked 360 and theres been loads since....Read some vey bad cases (not on these forums) were some people have been on their 3rd replacements......Which is absolutely ludicrous!

With hindsight though, maybe a release day purchase wasn't wise and maybe i should have waited for the next revision of console to appear....

On the flipside.......My replacement has brought me some jolly good fun.......So lets just hope it dont break!

I have the premium.
Was playing on full auto and the game froze and then the 3 red lights,
Keeps frezing now.
Spoke to MS And it will take 7 to 10 days to get a refurb 360, am not happy with a refurb when it cost me £280 so am going to take it back to game and see if i can get a refund? as i have seen a 360 at a other shop.

So it's a refurb then? Not happy with that, I'd sooner have new hardware.

OK, quick update...

After the 3rd phonecall (first time the blokes PC crashed, second the bloke couldn't understand me [or me him!], 3rd went through).

Returns box coming in the post within next few days for me to return the console AND the PSU. They've informed me it can take anything up to 2 weeks before I get the console back. TWO WEEKS!!!

Anyway, nowt else I can do now other than wait, stroke the console, cry and give it something to remind him of me when he goes on his long journey.

O 360, I wuv you and will miss you!

Just phoned my local Game again, had a little more determination and aggression in my voice, and they are prepared to change it in store!!

On my way in next 30 mins (hopefully), so if all goes well, I should be sorted...

Hmmm well mine is back in transit to Havant lol. Will be on my third one then.

It's actually pretty good. Nice visuals I'll give it that, but I certainly can't say they're visuals that are next-gen. But it's a good game, pretty exciting and one of those you can just pick up and go. Definately a party-based game, good to have a few friends round, a few beers and see who can do the most damage.

Let me know what you think, have an online game if you want.
