Xbox360 + PC Speakers

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a new monitor, for my PC, and looking at the threads it would seem that i can also connect an XBOX360 through it via the VGA cable.

I currently only have an onboard soundcard, and i am looking to upgrade this and get a new set of speakers, 5.1 or maybe 7.1.

What i was hoping was that someone could help me regarding connecting the sound from the XBOX360?

WOuld this plug into my soundcard, or would i need a separate amp??

You'd either be able to plug it in to the line in of your soundcard, or get a Dolby Digital Decoder to get full 5.1.

I think some soundcards will take a DD input and decode it to the speaker outputs, but I'm not sure what you'd need for that.

Thanks man, But does that mean that if i plug into my soundcard that my PC would have to be on when i play xbox?
