Just wondering is there any quality differences between a third party VGA lead (Joytech etc) compared to the official? I'm pretty sure I read there was some quality loss with the unofficial leads? Could anyone clear this up?!

I only have a Joytech VGA lead and the quality is superb, I haven't seen an official cable running so I can't compare.

I am actually still waiting for an official cable to be delivered but that seems to be taking forever.

I have the Joytech VGA lead. The picture on my Samsung LCD seems much softer than the component. The text is blurred slightly. I'm buying an official one so will let you know if theres any noticable difference with my setup.

I've been using component since launch, but ordered a Joytech VGA lead the other day just for the hell of it to see if there was any difference.

From what I've read it should be sharper, will see just how 'washed out' it makes things though.

Got the Joytech lead myself. Looks great! but I'm sure I read the unofficial leads appear to cause to much grey? if that makes sense. Black being more of a grey than it should.

I find the official Component picture better than the Joytech VGA on my LCD. The colours are better and the text and fine detail is clearer.

I would be interested to know if an official VGA cable would be able to improve quality over the Joytech version but I'm too tight to buy one.

Ive posted eleswhere that the MS VGA on my Samsung looks miles better than the cmponent and I turned the brightness down a bit and the colour on the dashboard was ideal

I prefered the offical component over the offical vga - vga looked 'washed out' (although sharper) - however i didn't try to alter the brightness\contrast levels on my hdtv - might pick another offical vga up one day but for now i'm happy enough with component.

Using a Blaze VGA cable and i wasnt that impressed to begin with.. but now ive kinda warmed to it.. soon to get an LCD screen though.. so will test Component directly against it

I've tried 2 VGA leads.

Mad Catz- Slightly more washed out. Bad ghosting especially noticable with light on dark or vice versa.

Blaze- Very happy with it. Slightly richer colours. Pin sharp picture with no ghosting.

Well we just need someone who has experienced both Unofficial VGA (Joytech etc) compared the the official MS VGA. I'm using a TFT monitor with mine (Philips 200W6CS W/S) games on the 360 do look slightly more washed than pc games. Could be down to the DVI/VGA unsure?!

Soon as Gameplay send me mine I can compare, I've been waiting over 2 weeks now :(

Have component and VGA. Component is far better.

The colour clarity is immense.

I've not really had much time to test, but from what I've seen after getting a VGA lead to 'try out' thats what I would say too.

VGA however DEFINITELY makes things less jaggier, I was amazed at how much smoother (running at 1280 x 768) the edges of stuff in NFS:MW were compared to component, but unless I can sort the colours out I will more than likely switch back.

What resolution do you play at?
Whats your screens optimum resolution?
Do you get Letterboxing?
Have you tried 2 player splitscreen at 1024x768?
