O.k first of all I own both so I'm not a fanboy from either side and this isnt a question of which is the better console, quite frankly I couldnt careless.
What does interest me though is which console has the better hardware, in terms of processor power and graphics, in 2 years from now say for example when Call of duty 5 or the lastest Need for Speed is released, which console will we be able to sit back and say "yeah its defantly looks better on the........."
But please fanboys that tuck up at night with your consoles I'm asking this in terms of hardware facts and predictions only, not particually your personal opinion.

anyone?

I think the PS3 has the better processing power out of the two, However, considering how close they are graphically these days, I don't think there would be many, if any, titles where you would be able to clearly see a massive difference between the two. Have a look at wikipedia, it's got all the technical specs of the two machines.

I have both consoles.

My estimation and opinion is that based on each consoles hardware makeup and technical specs, factoring standard hds, cell, tri core ppc, Xenos, rsx, and memory addressing is that at their peak:

Larger more expansive games will look better on ps3 by 5-10%
Smaller more controlled games (Gears etc.) will look better on 360 by 5-10%.

Honestly graphics don't matter this generation because the consoles are so similar in their harware capabilities and peak power. What matters is games (cliche i know, but it is true) which machine has the best exclusives and best devs and better third party support will be the superior machine.

Based on the next 18 months that is the Xbox 360. Beyond that who knows, nothing really has been announced for 2009.

:D

It's pretty simple.

The PS3 has a better processor, but it's harder to squeeze all the potential it's got.

The 360 has superior graphics (slightly) and has a better way of dealing with RAM as it's unified, not set for system ram and graphics ram like the PS3 is.

I have the feeling this will need to be closed pretty soon.

how am i a fanboy?!

because i own an xbox360 and yawn at a tired old subject that has been done again and again im a fanboy?

I happen to think the PS3 is a great piece of kit, just doesn't suit me yet.

There is no definitive answer..

The only way you'd know for certain is if your name was Emmett Brown PHd ;)

well it hurt my feelings :( haha.

When i do eventually get a PS3 I think the 360 will keep me purchasing the multi-format titles on it due to the Gamerscore factor. It sounds silly but it is an addictive and enjoyable feeling to get points for completing certain tasks.

At the minute though I cant get myself to buy a PS3 for the few games it has that are exclusive. But I can see myself owning one at a later date.

Zefan might as well close it now. Anyone who wants to know the hardware specification can go and look it up. Anything beyond that will just be personal opinion and will get way out of hand.

Probably more or less the same, but IIRC the next Xbox is out in 2 years time isn't it?
