Xbox360 Wireless adaptor - bust?

I recently switched on my Xbox360 and tried to sign into Xbox live as usual, but it said it couldn't connect. I've done the network test thingy, and it says it can't find the wireless adapter.

The Xbox 360 will connect via a network cable fine, so that works.
And i've tried plugging the Wireless adapter into the USB socket on the Xbox 360 itself, and into the HD-DVD add-on. No luck with either. When plugged in the adapter has a red light on constantly. The wireless settings bit on the Network Settings tab is greyed out, so I guess it can't even see the adapter..

I really can't see why it's suddenly gone wrong, nothing has been dropped and no cables wrenched out. Any ideas

Might be a silly question, but have you actually removed the wireless adaptor for a good couple of minutes, turned the xbox on and booted it up...turned off the xbox then reconnected the adaptor.

Not inconceivable that it could be a hardware lock-up. Disconnecting all power to all devices may help to.

my friends xbox had the same problem, but it turned out the xbox was not recognising usb devices, in the rear usb port or 1 of the front ones, does your 360 still recognise the hd dvd add on in all 3 of the usb ports, worth a try ;)

Ok those are a good couple of suggestions. I'll have another play tonight and report back. Ta people :)

Well I tried those ideas last night, and no luck.

When I plug it into any of the USB sockets the red light on the wireless adaptor flashes on then off again for a split second. Can't even get a constant red light now.

I guess there are no other options really, although the Xbox 360 is now 5 feet from the router, so a cable isn't that bad :)
