Hey all,

Just a quick question that i couldnt find an answer to online.

I was about to invest in a wireless dongle for my 360 controllers so i could use them on my PC. When i saw a picture though i noticed that the dongle looks very similar to the one i have for my keyboard and mouse(optical 4000 microsoft).

Im wondering if i can use my xbox 360 controller with this dongle.
I think they both use the 2.4 signal, dont they?

MS probably dont allow this to happen but maybe theres a hack??

I would try all this but im in work and 360 is at home.

Also the reason i want to be able to do it is not because i wont fork out the €20 it just my colour scheme is black and silver for my pc and i dont fancy a big white dongle hanging off my rig.

Cheers for any help you can give.

I'm pretty sure you'll need the one specifically designed for the job, but would be pleasantly surprised if someone says you can use your existing one.

It was the first thing i thought when i seen the 360 PC Wireless Receiver. It looks the exact same as the one on MS Keyboards and Mice.....

BUT, i have the MS Optical 6000 Keyboard and Mouse and i have tried it and it does not pick the 360 controller up :(

I've never investigated a hack but who knows? :o

The alternative is to whip out a can of black spray paint... ;)

Seriously though, I can recommend the wireless receiver, it works well. I'm sure they could have made a driver for their existing wireless dongles, but when they can sell a new one...

Nice playing mame on the laptop with a wireless controller though :)

i have the wireless receiver well worth the dough even though it is not exactly cheap worth it but for the comfort and familiarity of using your 360 pad on pc games

btw download xpadder program and it can emulate your mouse and keyboard works with any pad but excellent being able to play fps shooters and other none joypad friendly games wirelessly on your lcd tv 360 style

no idea about the keyboard adaptor but you can just hide it somewhere out of the way it is rf so does not need to be in sight of the controller

edit may be worth trying xbcd forum as they are trying to create a new wireless driver for the pad but have not succeeded yet

Thanks for all the replies guys, will bite the bullet and get the white one, I still think they could both work together but marketing probably got their greedy hands on the white one and decided to charge twice, not really surprising but very frustrating!
