Poll: XenForo

Should the new forum feature a "like" system? (note: this is like only, not dislike)

Down votes generally don't work as they get abused.

Instead of just downvoting e.g. replies that don't solve the OPs problem, you get people downvoting because they don't agree with an opinion, or even just downvoting particular posters all the time.

Down votes are a problem with reddit as downvoted posts go to the bottom and less likely to be seen. However this forum is sought by time posted so a post with loads of downvotes will still be seen as much as the post below with loads of upvotes.

As long as we can keep 80+ posts per page and the ability to disable sigs and avatars I'm fine. So many boards I visit cap out at 20 post per page with massive avatars you can't turn off :p

Very large animated sigs will be mandatory. The flashier the better.

Showing appreciation for a post without having to post is good in my book.

I disagree.

The whole point of a forum is discussion. Writing out a post agreeing with someone is infinitely more valuable than simply pressing "like".

By all means add a Thanks button for someone who has contributed something useful, that way people who weren't orginally the target of said help can show support.

This forum is clique enough without like buttons. Look at every example. Reddit, Digg, Youtube, Facebook. People "like" the people they like regardless of content, or "dislike" perfectly valid opinions that differ from their own. It's a hot mess. And anyway if you want that kind of instant gratification then it's out there. Why bring it here?

There is one thing I do like from another forum and would like to see here. If you have the last post in a thread and make another new one it automatically adds it to the previous post with 'updated' on it.
