I thought it's best to have a separate thread for this game instead of clogging up the 3DS thread.

How is everyone finding it?

About level 55, little beyond Sword Valley and just met Daddy Pig.

I'm at level 59/60 and am getting demolished by one of the Unique Monsters. He's at level 55 (I think) and he's really difficult!
I'll have to figure out some techniques to beat him.
I will probably just level up to 65 though and beat him.

I'm finding it to be bloody brilliant.

At first the combat system just frazzled my brains - I just couldn't get my head around the fact there's zero collision detection, you just have to be inside a zone and positioned correctly (to the side/front/rear of your enemy), but once the penny dropped I really warmed to it very quickly - I love it now, the battles are exciting and mentally challenging too.

The game has oodles of management depth - skills, arts, experience, items, gems, affinity - there's so much to do and to keep an eye on. Quests are good and rewarded properly - or you can just ignore them and plough on with the core game (although I'm guessing you'll likely pay a price for that later in the game as discarding quests also discards the items/experience/affinity etc that those quests bring you).

Only level 28 presently and in the Marshlands, I've not beat anything over level 35 I think so far. I'm struggling to clear out a cave at the moment with probably 4 or 5 level 30 ish beasts in it - they're practically laughing at me. I'm off to level up a little more and do some gem crafting before I go back and make a fool of myself again, last visit to the cave ended in me having to flee, it was quite embarrassing.

The in battle banter - omg it just creases me up - proper funny. :D

Highly recommended - worth upgrading your normal 3ds for!

Only one slight negative comment is the 3d - the effect is there - it's just not very deep, it could have been a bit better I think - but it doesn't detract from the experience at all.

Have you been doing all the quests?
I've pretty much done every available quest available to me?

Have you got the quest where you have to get the affinity between your female characters really high? I think it's called Paolo and Naurine or something

I've never played one of these games but they always seem very interesting. It's good to know that the latest one is very good.

Hopefully one day I'll actually get a 3DS so I can experience it.

I've got more completed quests than incomplete put it like that - but I'm no completion freak so I will definitely be leaving some of them. Tbh a lot of the quests you can complete just by exploring - I've auto completed a load just have a good old nose around and "unlocking" the corners of the map,

I've not done that particular one - although the names ring a bell - are they the two kids that constantly tease each other in Colony 9? I've only got one female in my party at the moment.

You can see why this game was so loved on the Wii, you can see what the fuss was about even on the little 3ds - it's quite unique.

Getting the Wii U game is my top priority - day 1 for me - I'll buy digital too to save loading/disc hunting etc - can't wait to be able to get my own Mechs/dolls!

Yeah but haven't bothered using doing it, other characters seem to work together much better (now I think I've got all the characters I might give it a go).

I hope they bring X to the 3ds too.

That's the one! Definitely worth doing when you get your next female party member.

20,000 exp is definitely worth it!

In the mornings I generally grind and do quests while I'm on the underground and every so often I'll just plow through the story.
I had a completely free Sunday this week and I spent hours doing all the quests I hadn't done and now I'll just bust out the story for a while until I reach the next town and then do the side missions.

I do find the amount of side missions detract from the story as it's the most effective way to get EXP and doing that takes a lot of time.
I prefer sidequests left to the end, like in Final Fantasy X, rather than loads constantly. It has an impact on the story telling.

I play during my lunch break and then also at night I'll usually play a bit with the headphones on whilst the Mrs watches some crap on TV.

I've not touched my Wii U since this game arrived - which is a good thing because I only ever turn the Wii U on to play Smash online FG and frankly it's not good for my blood pressure.

Before Fire Emblem and Xenoblade I don't think I'd ever touched a JRPG!

I'm already wondering what my next JRPG fix should be after Xenoblade. Probably Xenoblade X for the Wii U plus maybe Persona for the 3DS - I like the look of that. I also like the look of Project X Zone on the 3DS and Project X Zone 2 is coming soon too.

Wonder if we'll get some more n3DS exclusive games soon?

Wait, what? Shows how much attention I paid to that. Still feels a lot effort to get affinity level that high between characters.

It is but if you just put Melia and Sharla in together and just fight loads and do quests you'll quickly build up your relationship.

You can even gift a present from one to the other to increase the affinity

Haven't really got into this game yet - I've been sidetracked by various games on the PC since it was released. Initially I was quite excited for its release but it hasn't captured my imagination as readily as I thought it would. I'm not sure if I've quite got to grips with all the game mechanics which could be a factor. Love the musical score, graphics are a bit muddy and lack clarity though ( even for a 3DS game ).

Woop woop

I beat this Unique Monster, I had a cheap tactic but it still worked.
The monster was MASSIVE so I was able to climb a bridge above the monster (which is just a bit smaller than the bridge) and attack him.

He has a stomp move that did around 3-4k worth of damage, but with this tactic he can't use it :)

That's a nice 5000 exp per fight, so I'll grind him till the exp rewards aren't worth it.

You have GOT to be kidding?

The voice acting is pure genius - it's 100% cheese, and the cheese is strong.

******* hate Reyn he's the worst voiced out of all of them.
'RIGHT? RIGHT?'

****.

Has anybody had control issues with their system?
Sometimes, like this morning, I was playing while on the train and for some reason I couldn't open chests! I could press X and go into the menu and use the A button perfectly, but for reason I couldn't open any chests.
I had to save, turn the system off and then back on and it'd work.

I've had this sort of thing happen a few times, but it's not game breaking. I don't think it's an issue with the 3DS I think it's the game.
