[Title Typo] 5345 is name, not 5434

Hello friends.

Well whoopie doo am I lucky. A friend had one of these lying around and sold it to me for £25.

Currently sitting on a 939 system and was not looking to upgrade for a while.
I guess it would be a crime not to. :)

I understand this is a 1333FSB chip with 8mb cache. Xeon's are the cream of the crop, a bit like the Opterons?

He claims I won't have to overclock this CPU as it should destroy anything thrown at it.

As I am clueless on Intel I would appreciate some help.
I want a motherboard which is not too complex, but has good audio, the usual USB 2.0, 1394, PCIx 2.0, Sata2 etc and is solid for ocing without insane features a la DFI.

As for RAM... I'm lost. 2gig will do for me as I have no intention of running Vista. A good set of ram which works nicely with the CPU will suffice.

A 3870XT with this should allow me to enjoy games pretty well I would imagine?

Thanks as always.

Forgot to add: It came OEM. A cooler which allows for some ocing and is quiet also on the buy list.

I hear you.

But I will notice a large difference from a 939 dual core setup?

I saw motherboards are hard to find for this socket. 300 quid or so :(

Perhaps it is wiser to try and sell it.
